Meagan Lee
Procurement Manager

I studied Business and Computing for four years at LIT and then completed a Business Enterprise course, where I worked on projects for multiple businesses which gave me exposure and insight into numerous business sectors.

After a year of working for a major retail outlet, I moved to a logistics firm serving the needs of leading tech companies. I joined as a customer support agent, initially handling queries on the phone but progressed to more of a reporting function quickly which was followed by a management role where I was responsible for a team of six people. I gained invaluable experience across numerous facets of the business from customer relations, dealing with suppliers, reporting and management skills.

After nearly five years in that position, I wanted a fresh challenge and after speaking with JJ and Sharon, I knew I wanted to join OBW. They told me all about the company, the growth they were experiencing and where they envisaged the company going, so it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass on. Thankfully everything they said was true, we have expanded so much since I joined and the future for the company looks very bright.

I came on board as a Purchasing officer three years ago and I think nearly 25 people have joined the company in the intervening years. Since I started we moved buildings, set up a new stock room and exponentially increased the number of orders passing through my desk every day.

“My day is quite varied as it depends on the needs of other people!”

On a typical day, I am the first point of contact for many customers emailing or calling us and my office is in reception so I meet many different people every day which I love. It’s my responsibility to log new stock onto our internal systems and order stock or any other items our team may need, which means I’ve visibility of most things happening within the business which is great.

If I had to pick my favourite part of the job, I’d have to say it’s meeting so many people. I love talking to customers or suppliers on the phone, delivery drivers at the front door or some of my colleagues over a cup of tea!

I’m also a First Aid Officer and Fire Warden within the company, I enjoy the extra responsibility and I’m happy to know that I’m able to help somebody should they need my assistance.

All the teams within OBW continue to grow so the Purchasing department will probably follow a similar growth trajectory, so I’d love to oversee that growth in a managerial capacity. I have the experience from my previous roles and that’s where I see my future.

There’s a great atmosphere here, everyone gets on with each other, JJ and Sharon are great and everyone is here to work as a team!
